By Sarah Nitz

Adults don’t get to have all the fun this season. Kids love to head off to school with fun new looks! Here are a few styles that cool enough to impress their friends, while easy enough to keep Mom (or Dad) from going crazy.

Fun Buns

A new twist on a Princess Leia favorite! This easy style keeps hair up and off your princess’ face all day. It’s great for her favorite sports, gym class or any day!

Fun Buns Cute Girls Hairstyle

How to:

Start with damp to dry hair. Comb hair to remove any tangles and part down middle, leaving the bangs out.Gather one side and comb to smooth out any imperfections. Secure with a clear elastic.Separate into three sections. Braid hair tightly to ends. Secure with another clear elastic.Wrap braid around base of ponytail to form a bun. Tuck ends under and secure with bobby pins.Repeat on the other side!Smooth bangs off to the side or straight down. Mist your buns with your favorite hairspray.

Recommended Products:

When using hairspray on kid’s hair, you want one that will hold without getting too stiff. Try Pravana’s Super Shape hairspray, mist a little for light hold, or layer to increase hold.

Best Face Shape & Hair Texture:

Any face shape can wear this fun bun style, while straight hair that is medium to thick in texture makes for the best buns.

Tips:

If your little one’s braids are a little thin, try backcombing slightly after you have separated into the three sections before you start to braid. This will help plump them up!

Organized Mess

Let’s face it, sometimes her hair is just a mess! But this mess creates a fun style that will last all day.

Organized Mess Girls Hairstyle

How To:

Start with dry hair. If you need to blow dry, use your hands to shake hair while you dry. Smooth bangs down in the front using a vent brush.Loosely gather hair in the middle back of head. Secure with a clear (or colored if you have one to match her outfit) elastic. Don’t worry about smoothing out bumps or textured areas going back into ponytail. Those help create the “mess” in this messy do.Hold the very ends of hair in between your thumb and pointer fingers. With your other hand, lightly fluff hair up towards the ponytail base. Once you have a nice amount of fluff, let go of the ends and shake out hair in ponytail.Mist with hairspray if needed.

Recommended Products:

If the hair is too soft to create this messy look, start off by misting hair with a sea salt spray, such as Label.m Sea Salt Spray. This creates texture and will help your style hold.

Best Face Shape & Hair Texture:

Heart shaped faces wear this look best, but overall any darling little face will look adorable. Hair that is wavy and tends to get “messy” easily and will be the best for creating this look.

Tips:

Add a flower or headband to dress up this messy ponytail.

Girly Curly!

Every little girl looks great in curls! This style is perfect for a family get together, birthday party or school.

Sweet Curly Hairstyle for Girls

Apply a medium hold gel to damp hair. Blow dry using a vent or round brush.Once hair is completely dry, section hair into threes, one on each side and one in the back. Secure with clips.Drop down 1 ½ inch sections. Mist lightly with hairspray and comb through.Begin curling with a 1 inch curling iron, alternating curling towards and away from face. After all of her hair is curled, let the curls cool, then run your fingers through to separate and soften.

Pravana’s Curve Gel is a medium hold that will not flake. It’s also water soluable so you won’t have to worry about build up.

Best Face Shape & Hair Texture:

Round face shapes look too cute in this curly do!  Naturally wavy or curly hair will hold curls longer.

Tips:

Ask your stylist for a blunt lob (or long bob) cut for your little one to help achieve this style.

Tips:

If your having trouble with your faux hawk standing up, your hair may be too long or too short. Ask your stylist to help with finding the perfect length.

Braiding Flower Fun

Who needs a headband to jazz up your hair when you can add a braided flower?!

Fun Front Braided Hairstyle

To add a bit of texture to the ends, curl with a 1 inch curling iron.Section hair into the back of your head and front.Mist a sea salt spray through hair that will be braided.Beginning above ear, begin to French braid towards opposite side of head.  Once you reach 2 inches from the opposite ear, continue to braid without adding any hair. Tuck ends under flower shape and secure with bobby pins.Mist final style with hairspray.

Best Face Shape & Hair Texture:

Any face shape will look great with this fun braid. Hair that is meduim to thick and straight works easiest for this look.

Tips:

Add a few jeweled pins in the center of flower to dress it up. Also, you may find it is easiest to have her lay on a couch with her head towads you to braid up from the ear.

Pokey Fun!

Try this pokey or spiky fun look for your son!  It’s fun and easy.

Cute Spiky Blonde Hair

How to:

Recommended Products:

A firm holding gel is in order for this fun do. Try Pravana’s Design Gel. It will not flake and is water soluable.

Tips:

Cute High Ponytail - Style for Little Girls

Recommended Products:

When using ponytail holders, you always want to look for elastics that will not pull or break hair and they should never have a metal clip on them. You can find many choices at your local beauty supply or drug store.

Best Face Shape and Hair Texture:

Any face shape will look adorable with this fashionable do! The preferred texture can be straight or curly.
