“ Marion Cotillard Glows at the Screen Actors Guild 2013

With all the beautiful stars on the red carpet it can be hard to have your hair stand out, but Marion had no problem doing so with this stunning asymmetrical style. A deep side part, side sweeping bangs, and the most amazing chocolate color make this hairstyle fabulous. Slicking the shorter side of her cut behind her ear adds the sophisticated icing on top of the cake.

How To Style:

1. Get the right cut. Ask for an medium length asymmetrical bob that is at least one and a half inches longer on one side of your face. The cut has minimal layers which gives it that sleek finish but has subtle texture added to the bottom so that the hair flips under naturally.

2.  Style it right. Part your hair right at the outer edge of your eye and sleek hair to the side. Grab your flat iron and smooth hair, section by section to really add a polished effect. Bevel your iron under slightly when you reach the tips of your hair to help flip it under.

3. Shine on! Mist some light shine spray on your hair to amp up that mirror-like effect even more. You want to keep hair touchable and soft so don’t add any sticky pomades or hairsprays. A light spray, serum, or cream is all you need to finish off this red carpet style.

Asymmetrical styles are totally on trend and this was a super glamourous way to pull it off. Soft beachy waves make this hairstyle perfect for day or night.

How To Style:

1. Prep your hair with the right products. On clean, dry hair mist some flexible hold hairspray throughout to give your strands a bit of texture and then comb through to break it up. Then apply a good heat protecting serum to get it ready for some iron work.

2. Use a large sized barrel curling iron (a one and a half inch diameter would probably work best) to add wave to your entire head of hair. Really focus on the roots to the mid-shaft when you are curling. Curl the tips of your hair loosely and quickly so you don’t create too much of a ringlet.

3. Once your hair is completely curled, part it deeply to one side. Pull the smaller section of hair back and towards the opposite side of the back of your head to get that sleeked over, asymmetrical effect. Secure with pins and spray with some hairspray for hold.

2. Part hair to the side as far as you can get away with and then start blow drying hair back and to the side. Really direct your hair back with the blow dryer and use your fingers or a paddle brush to create smoothness and volume going in the right direction. Use your blow dryer to smooth down the other side of your hair so it lays down flat.

3. With hair completely dry, use a curling iron to flip the top strands of your hair back to create a soft texture and wave. Flat iron the opposite side of your part down to keep it smooth and flat.

4. Use a styling cream to add some defintion to your hairstyle without adding stickiness or crunchiness to your look. Simply rub the product through your fingers and then gently slick it back into your hair.
