Let’s face it, with insanely busy lives a lot of us don’t have the time for a completely new ‘do when it comes to going from day to nighttime events. Surprisingly, you don’t need a brand new blowout before that evening soirĂ©e! All you need is a few tools and tricks to be prepared. Here are five quick and easy ways to transform your hair from day to night.
1. Pack a Chignon FoundationA low side or high chignon is a quick and easy way to style your hair for an evening event. You can wear a ponytail during the day and stash a few bobby pins and a chignon foundation (also known as a hair donut) to quickly sweep your hair up for the night. (You can also do the “sock bun” trick, but who really wants to carry around a sock all day?) This hairstyle takes 5 to 10 minutes to create and is such a simple way to transform a sassy daytime ponytail into evening glam.
2. Try Clip-in Hair ExtensionsA warning about hair extensions: once you try them, it’s hard to stop! But some clip-in hair extensions are a great way to give your hair some extra volume and extra length that’s perfect for evening events. You can find clip-in hair extensions at your local beauty supply store or at many salons.
3. AccessorizeHeadbands and hair accessories are one of the easiest ways to change up your hairstyle! Add a little sparkle to your look with one of this season’s glittery or sequined hair pieces, which look equally great with a down or up hairstyle. Need some inspiration? Read our story on the do’s and don’ts of wearing a headband.
4. Add Some CurlIf you normally wear your hair straight during the day, add a wave or a few curls for your evening look. If you’re pressed for time, that’s where a set of hot rollers saves the day. The hot rollers will do all the work for you, curling your hair while you touch up your makeup. It’s an easy fix and multitasking at its best!
5. VolumizeAfter a long day at work, it’s normal to notice your locks may have fallen flat. Give your roots a good tease for a mini revival. Try some dry shampoo and hairspray so that your hairstyle holds. Osis Dust It Mattifying Powder is a great dry shampoo that adds extra volume, too.
Now that you have a few general ideas of how to take your hair from day to night, put them into action with one of these amazing tutorials!
